On November 19th, INCITE participated in an event hosted by Feique (Spanish Business Association of Chemical Industrial) “The Mission of INCITE in the Transformation of the Chemical Industry”, together with the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico, Cefic and EU-BRITE #INCITE. A key meeting to understand how INCITE is acting as a catalyst for #innovation, #sustainability and #competitiveness in the European #chemical industry.
🔹 The session was opened by Laura Castrillo and Mª Eugenia Anta Espada (Feique) who outlined the current challenges facing the Spanish chemical sector.
🔹 Álvaro Fernández Pérez (Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico) shared the institutional perspective on the role of INCITE in modernizing the industry.
🔹 JOSE ANDRÉS GONZALEZ CUENCA (EU-BRITE #INCITE) detailed the opportunities INCITE offers to drive innovative technologies.
🔹 Jean Godts (Cefic) provided the current perspective of the European chemical sector.
🔹 Francisca Galindo Paniagua (Grupo Fertiberia) presented an inspiring case study based on the CORALIS industrial symbiosis project.
🔹 Finally, Alfredo López Carretero (Feique and Moeve) closed the event by highlighting the strategic importance of the chemical industry as an economic and social driver.
During the meeting, it became clear that public-private collaboration is essential to scale innovation, remove barriers and accelerate the industrial transition, and that the Spanish chemical sector plays—and will continue to play—a fundamental role in reducing emissions, improving resource efficiency and advancing towards a #CircularEconomy.
In this context, INCITE positions itself as a key platform to showcase disruptive technologies, attract funding and investment, and guide future regulatory and technological priorities. An essential initiative to strengthen the #competitiveness of the industrial sector, contribute to the #sustainability objectives of the EU, and advance its #StrategicAutonomy.
